I just have to say that your work through this site has been such a blessing to us. To just give up your work for free is going above and beyond to better the Kingdom. I really like the design. I've been doing church media work since 1995, and I must say your work offers some great inspiration!
I like your design just as it is. If this was a final comp I would be happy.
If you begged me to give you some other items to consider it would be these few items:
1.) is there any way that you can work a cross into the design? maybe a very faint, ghosted cross on the left side of the design? nothing bold, and something so faint it would be easy to miss it the first few times you saw this design... [this isn't mandatory... just something to consider, as long as you can find a way to work it in without cheese-ing it up at all]. I'm thinking of a cross from the perspective of the ground, looking up at it as if from a bit of a skewed angle...
2.) I'm not sure how much I love the font choice for the word "THE"... I'm sure you've explored all sorts of options and found the best one for the design.... but for some reason I keep getting caught up on that. It's probably just me, though.
3.) ok- the last thing is simply about which of the words need to be the largest... the largest word is "Jesus", then "sayings", then "cross". That's really good. But I keep cycling through other options in my head... like, what's the most important word in this design? is it "Jesus"? Is it "sayings"? Are the words "sayings" and "cross" of equal importance? if so, should they be equal in size?
I don't have an answer to what I'm saying in point number three. I'm just throwing it out there for you to consider. If nothing else, it will help you feel solid about your design even more. I don't know why, but to me I think the biggest deal for the series is that these are sayings FROM THE CROSS. "Jesus" is important (duh). "Sayings" is important... but I think the fact that there were 7 things said "From the cross" might be the most important part. If so, then you might want to reflect that in the design.
no matter what, I love the placement of the text, the text treatment, and the overall text location.
Just food for thought....
